There are two ways that you can control the page size of your Microsoft Word printed document. The first way requires modifying the page setup configuration. You also can scale down the size of your document in the printer dialogue box, which doesn't adjust the document's overall measurements but simply shrinks the output so that it fits on the paper.
The Page Setup dialogue provides you with a range of standard paper sizes so you can reduce your document's dimensions. You can use this menu to also adjust your margins -- which, when your paper size is smaller, helps you to maximize the available white space on the page. To launch the menu, select "Page Layout," click "Size" and choose "More Paper Sizes."

To get there, select "File" and then "Print." Use the "Sale to Paper Size" drop-down list to specify your desired paper dimensions and click "OK" to print.
